2024 marked a milestone year for East London Community Band as we celebrated our 50th anniversary.

'Together in Music' documentary sneak peek

took place on Saturday 14 December 2024, 5.30-8.00pm

This celebration concert-in-a-cinema rounded off our hugely busy 50th anniversary year. 

 

The programme included premieres of newly-commissioned by Lucy Armstrong and Emma Rawicz as well as performances from a wide repertoire by all East London Community Band's ensembles. There was also a big screen preview of 'Together in Music', a documentary about our first 50 years!

 

The Friends of ELCB scheme was also launched for our supporters to get more involved with band. Details here.

Our Summer celebrations featured ELCBFest, in partnership with St Dunstan's,
on Saturday 8 June 2024.

Billed as a 'mini-Glastonbury' open to the whole community, the all-day event featured performances by ELCB ensembles showcasing our percussion, jazz, premier band, concert band, big band, jazz combo and Early Music groups. The festival was an opportunity to build connections within the community and across musical groups and we were proud to host guest groups including Swing Dance UK, Corsican Brass, Udichi Bengali Dance, Phill and the John Bennett Band.  

  

ELCBFest also had an outreach and recruitment objective through the 'Make Some Noise' children's area where young people were invited to try out percussion with a view to joining our subsidised percussion group in September and embark on their music-making journey through East London Community Band.   

  

In addition to the musical programme ELCBFest included: a Pimm's counter from The Peacock Pub, Blue Daisy coffee stall, food stalls, 'social media photo opp' area, ELCB information and merchandise stall, and local community group stalls.  Who needs Glastonbury, when there's ELCBFest?
